Injuries = Imbalances

Look at injuries as symptoms of imbalances: Weak glutes cause pulled hamstrings. A weak psoas and iliacus leads to pulled quads. Rotator cuff strains come from lack of scapula control. I think we spend way too much time treating symptoms and trying to strengthen the wrong muscles. Shirley Sahrmann says that if you have an injured muscle, you should start looking for a weak synergist. Think about it.

About Mike . . .

Mike Demeter has been a successful Personal Trainer for over 25 years. His education includes a BPHE and CFA from the University of Toronto, an Athletic Therapist L1 from York University and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.

Continuing Education has included Muscle Testing Certifications through the Society of Weight Training Injury Specialists, Naturopathic, Clinical and Sports Nutrition courses and attendance since 2000 to various continuing education symposiums including the PERFORM BETTER Summits, CanFit Pro, SWIS, the JP Fitness Summit, and IHRSA.

Most recent is Mike's attendance to the Perform Better Summits in Chicago and Orlando, Troponin Nutrition Seminar in Detroit, the JPFitness Summit in Little Rock as well as time with Dr. Charles Poliquin in Assessment and Treatment via the Biosignature of Fat Storage protocols and a Level 1 and 2 PICP Certification.

Mike's awards include finalist yearly since 2000 as one of the GoodLife Fitness Clubs of Canada's Top Trainers and the winning of the 2006 Nationwide Top Trainer award and 2008 Toronto Region Top Trainer award

Additionally, Mike was recognized for his many years serving as Head Judge for the Canadian Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding Competitions.

Currently Mike serves as moderator at Dr. John Berardi's Precision Nutrition forum ( http://www.precisionnutrition.com ) as well as "Ask The Expert" panelist at http://www.nutritionhouse.com where you can purchase AGING SMART, a book which Mike co-authored.

Of course Mike continues to serve as Senior Trainer at the Toronto Flagship GoodLife Club at the Toronto Eaton Center, always eager to meet and help new clients achieve their health and fitness goals.
